The International Cricket Council (ICC) has made an important decision, announcing that from 2025 to 2027, the Champions Trophy and other major cricket events in Pakistan will be held under the “Hybrid Model.” This announcement particularly prioritizes holding Pakistan-India matches at neutral venues, marking the beginning of a new and unique movement in international cricket.

The Hybrid Model and Its Purpose
Under the Hybrid Model, matches between Pakistan and India will be played at neutral venues. The objective is to keep the political and social tensions between the two countries separate from the sport. Under this model, while events held in Pakistan will see India’s matches played at neutral venues, similarly, events in India will see Pakistan’s matches held at neutral venues. This decision is a significant step in promoting cricket and peace between the two countries.

The Plan for 2025 to 2027
According to the agreement announced by the ICC, the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup in India, and the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka will be played under the Hybrid Model. During this period, all matches between Pakistan and India will be played at neutral venues, ensuring transparency and fairness in cricket in both countries.

Impact of ICC’s Decision
ICC’s new decision is significant in keeping cricket between Pakistan and India free from political influences. Cricket has always been a major subject of interest between the two countries, and this move could lead to a new beginning for international cricket. It will also provide cricket fans with a fresh opportunity to watch matches between the two nations, delivering a message of peace and cooperation.

2028 Women’s T20 World Cup
ICC has also confirmed that Pakistan will host the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup. This tournament will also be played under the Hybrid Model, with the host country required to propose a neutral venue, which must be approved by the ICC.

The Ultimate Goal
ICC’s new decision can prove to be a major milestone, allowing cricket between the two countries to be played more freely. It will also help promote peace and cooperation in global sports, which is of great importance in both cricket and other sports.
