Rangers Punjab Mourns Loss of Lance Naik Muhammad Tanveer in PTI Protest Violence
Lance Naik Muhammad Tanveer, 37, a dedicated personnel of Pakistan Rangers Punjab, succumbed to injuries sustained during the violent protests on November 25-26, 2024. Tanveer, a resident of Narowal district, had served the nation for 17 years. He leaves behind a wife, two sons, and three daughters.¹
The protests, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), turned deadly as protesters clashed with security forces, resulting in the loss of four Rangers personnel, including Tanveer. Additionally, two Punjab Police personnel were killed, and approximately 119 others were injured. Islamabad Police also reported 11 severe injuries.
The violence erupted as PTI supporters breached security barricades, attacking government properties and causing irreparable damage. Multiple videos of the clashes and vandalism have surfaced, showcasing the intensity of the protests.
This incident is part of a larger wave of protests sparked by PTI’s “final call” for a protest on November 24, 2024, in Islamabad. The protests were met with a heavy security crackdown, resulting in casualties and widespread destruction.
