Sindh United Party Chief Warns of Devastating Consequences of Proposed Canals Rajkumar.
Sindh United Party President and Convener of the Sindhu Darya Bachayo Committee, Syed Zain Shah, met with overseas Sindhis in Birmingham, UK. The meeting, attended by professionals and social personalities from various sectors in the UK, featured a session on the theme “Save Sindh, Save Sindh”.
Syed Zain Shah briefed the attendees on the devastating consequences of constructing six canals on the Indus River, warning that Sindh would face severe drought and millions of acres of agricultural land would become barren. He also expressed concerns about the impact on employment, stating that millions of Sindhis would lose their livelihoods.¹
Shah’s warnings come amid growing protests from farmers and politicians in Sindh, who argue that the proposed canals would exacerbate the province’s existing water crisis. The controversy has sparked debates about the distribution of water resources and the impact of infrastructure projects on local communities.
