Peshawar, December 27: Federal Minister Engineer Amir Muqam emphasized that for 45 years, Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees, and even now, there are 3 million Afghans residing in the country. He urged Afghan youth to remember how Pakistan stood by them during difficult times. He said that disrespecting Pakistan’s flag or interfering in its internal politics would only increase hardships for Afghan refugees.
He expressed gratitude to international organizations for their assistance but noted that their contributions were negligible and called for greater generosity.
The Federal Minister made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the Afghan Cricket League final match. He awarded trophies and prizes to the winning team and runners-up, watched the final overs of the match, and praised the players for fostering love and harmony between the host community and refugees.
The ceremony was also attended by Secretary SAFRON Zafar Hasan, Commissioner Islamabad Abbas Khan, Commissioner Peshawar Shakeel Safi, and other senior officials. Vice Chancellor of Islamia College University, Dr. Ali Muhammad Yusufzai, was also present.
