District Health Officer Sanghar Chairs Monthly Multi-Sectoral Committee Meeting
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand): A monthly multi-sectoral committee meeting, chaired by District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Dolat Jamali, was held at his office. The meeting was attended by various officials and representatives of social organizations, focusing on key health and social issues.
Representatives from social organizations, including Sikandar Babur of Path Finder and representatives from NDF, discussed empowering women and young girls with leadership and decision-making skills. They emphasized the prevention of gender-based violence and strategies to mitigate the negative impacts of climate change. It was highlighted that women in remote and underprivileged areas should be better trained to protect their families from the adverse effects of climate change.
District Manager of Indus Hospital and Health Network, Azeem Roonjho, briefed attendees on the ongoing efforts to properly manage and dispose of medical waste to minimize its harmful effects on public health.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jamali stressed the importance of collective efforts to address the growing health challenges caused by population growth and a lack of public awareness. He highlighted the need for improved coordination among stakeholders to effectively tackle these issues.
The meeting was also attended by UN-OCHA representative Waheed Mallah and other relevant officials, who contributed their insights and suggestions.
The session underscored the importance of collaborative efforts to enhance public health and welfare in the district, particularly for marginalized communities.
