Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Stresses Need for Improved Security and Governance
Peshawar, January 3, 2025: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, emphasized the importance of addressing the security situation in the province during a meeting with editors and journalists at the Governor’s House in Peshawar.
Kundi stressed that the provincial assembly should discuss the security situation as a top priority, warning that if the situation spirals out of control, it will be challenging to restore order. He also highlighted the need to strengthen the peace jirga, a traditional dispute resolution mechanism, to promote peace and stability in the region.
Additionally, Kundi emphasized the importance of constructing an alternative route to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to prevent future disruptions and ensure the smooth flow of traffic. He announced plans to discuss this proposal with the National Highway Authority (NHA) and other relevant authorities.
The governor also underscored the need for effective utilization of provincial resources and protection of provincial rights. He noted that Sindh is enhancing its institutional capacity to manage its resources and suggested that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should follow suit by establishing a team to optimize the use of provincial resources.
Kundi’s remarks come as part of a broader effort to promote peace, stability, and good governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.¹
