ANF Launches Nationwide Crackdown on Drug Smuggling
Islamabad. Jan. 06. The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has launched a nationwide operation to combat drug smuggling near educational institutions and in various cities across Pakistan. The crackdown has resulted in the arrest of 9 suspects and the seizure of over 1,231 kilograms of narcotics worth more than Rs. 22 crore.¹
The ANF conducted 10 operations in different parts of the country, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Quetta. Some notable seizures include:
– Karachi: 250 grams of heroin were recovered from a motorcyclist near Main Korangi Road.
– Lahore: 40 heroin-filled capsules were seized from a passenger traveling to Bahrain at Lahore International Airport. Additionally, 64 ice-filled capsules were recovered from a passenger traveling to Jeddah.
– Pishin, Balochistan*: 1,208 kilograms of charas were seized from two different areas.
– Islamabad*: 8.4 kilograms of charas were recovered from a car’s secret compartments near the M-1 Interchange.
– Sialkot*: 3 kilograms of heroin, 2 kilograms of ice, and 1.2 kilograms of charas were seized from a suspect’s bag near Daska Chowk.
– Mianwali*: 4.8 kilograms of charas were recovered from two suspects near the Sargodha turn.
The ANF’s crackdown on drug smuggling is part of its efforts to curb the menace of narcotics in the country, particularly near educational institutions.² ³
