Zahida Shaikh Honoured for Her Legacy of Political Activism

On the seventh death anniversary of Advocate Comrade Zahida Shaikh, former president of Sindhiyani Tehreek, tributes were paid across Sindh for her relentless fight for women’s rights and socio-economic justice.
Commemorative events in Malir, Sukkur, Tando Allahyar and Qamber featured speeches, songs, and performances celebrating her pioneering role in mobilizing marginalized women and challenging societal inequalities.
Leaders from Sindhiyani Tehreek and Awami Tehreek including Advocate Sajjid Mahesar, Umrah Samo, Hoor ul Nisa Palijo, Kainat Dahiri, Sorath Manganhar, Comrade Mustafa Chandio, Shamshad Babar, Pirh Soomro and others highlighted Zahida’s dedication to grassroots activism and her inspiration from Marxist ideals under mentoring of Rasool Bux Palijo.
Speakers further honored Zahida Shaikh as a pioneering political leader from Sindh who dedicated her life to empowering marginalized women through grassroots activism. Inspired by Marxist ideals, she mobilized women from Sindh’s lower classes as a key figure in Sindhiyani Tehreek, amplifying their voices in a male-dominated society. Despite challenges, she remained steadfast in her fight for socio-economic justice, leaving behind a legacy that symbolizes ideology-driven politics and the power of grassroots movements in challenging inequality.
