Solarization of Agri. tube wells underway: Govt would continue to take steps for protection of rights of growers: Bazai
QUETTA: The Secretary Energy Department, Muhammad Dawood Khan Bazai has stated that the provincial government would continue to take steps for protection of the rights of growers remaining in it’s constitutional jurisdiction.
He said that it is top priority of the government to remove the apprehensions and complains of the zamindars.
He said that it is also included in priorities of the government to stand the agriculture sector on its feet. He said that solarization of the agricultural tube wells of the province is necessary for development of agriculture sector.
With this, the government would get a lot of saving while farmers would get much relief with solarization of the agricultural tube wells.
The Secretary Energy was chairing the high level meeting of Energy Department, Government of Balochistan and Zamindar Action Committee regarding making the process of electricity connections of the agricultural consumers and solarization of agricultural tube wells more effective in Quetta and Pishin districts, here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by the Director General Energy, Dost Muhammad Jaffar, Syed Abdul Qahar Agha, Chairman ZAC, Malik Naseer Shahwani and Secretary General, Abdul Rehman Bazai, Focal Person of Solar Panel System, QESCO and Superintendent Engineer, Shah Jahan Gharsheen and Member of Executive Council, Syed Siddiqullah Agha.
The meeting was informed that the process of removing transformers of the agricultural tube wells would be completed by January 17. These are included 2510 power connections in Pishin and 189 connections in Quetta district.
It was also informed that Rs. 5,398 million have been provided by Balochistan government in the first phase on account of the solarization.
After transfer of the amount to agricultural consumers, the transformers, HT poles and other electricity appliances are being removed so that the agricultural connections may not be connected to the network of QESCO once again.
The work on transformers of the agricultural tube wells had been started since December 20, 2024.
The work of removal of connections of 2,699 agricultural consumers would be completed by January 17, 2025.
The Secretary Energy said that first phase of the process of solarization of legal and registered agricultural tube wells has been completed by the provincial government together with the federal government. In this regard, the Energy Department would ensure implementation on the process of solarization together with the officials of QESCO, representatives of the concerned Zamindar Action Committees and law enforcement agencies, Secretary Energy added.
