Levies force of Quetta, Gwadar & Lasbela districts merged into police
Spokesman of Balochistan Govt. terms initiative of merger an extraordinary development for protection of people and stability; believes law and order situation would improve with initiative
QUETTA: In a significant development, the Levies force has been merged into the Police in three major districts of Balochistan province including Quetta, Gwadar and Lasbela.
According to an official notification of the Directorate of Levies force Balochistan, the operational command of the Levies force have been given in control of the Police in these districts.
At the outset, 1,116 personals of the Levies force were merged in the Police in Quetta, Gwadar and Lasbela.
The officials of Levies merged in the Police are included: Arms Inspectors, Muharrar, Risaldar, Naib Risaldar, Dafadar, Khasadar, Jamadar, Hawaldar, Sepoys, wireless operators and footmen.
All were serving in different grades from 1 to 11.
The Levies officials merged from Quetta Levies to Quetta Police are 346 with 381 from Gwadar Levies to Gwadar Police and 220 from Lasbela Levies to Lasbela Police. Similarly, those who merged from Lasbela in Hub police are 219.
Moreover, the handing over of Levies thanas, vehicles, arms and other official goods would be handed over to the concerned Police after making assessment of the same.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of provincial government, Shahid Rind said that the merger of Levies force in Police has been completed in Quetta, Gwadar and Lasbela.
In an official statement, the spokesman maintained that the system of law enforcement would be strengthened with merger of Levies force in Police.
He said that better understanding would be created among policing and law enforcement agencies with the initiative.
He said that the initiative of merger is an extraordinary development for protection of the people and stability.
In addition to this, the law and order situation would also be improved with merger of Levies force in Balochistan.
