Awami Tahreek in Islamabad to Build Joint Consensus Against Anti-People Projects Like Indus Canal Plans and Corporate Farming
Islamabad, 14 Jan: The leadership of Awami Tahreek, including Advocate Wasand Thari, Dada Qadir Ranto, Noor Ahmed Katiar, Advocate Naveed Abbas Kalhoro, Kamlesh Kumar, and Advocate Ayaz Saleh Palijo, has arrived in Islamabad to engage with national leaders, intellectuals, and experts in preparation for their pivotal conference scheduled for January 18, 2025.
As part of their groundwork, they held in-depth discussions with prominent figures such as Ghulam Fareed Koreja (Chairman, Seraikistan Qaumi Ittehad), Advocate Nisar Shah (President, Awami Workers Party Kashmir), Ghulam Akbar Khosa (Seraiki Qaumi Party), and Mushtaq Gadai (Seraiki intellectual). They also consulted respected journalists, including Abdul Razzaq Khatti, Qurban Baloch, Nisar Mugrio, Hussain Jarwar, and Murtaza Talpur, to ensure a broad perspective on the issues at hand.
The upcoming conference will tackle critical challenges such as the proposed construction of six new canals on the Indus River, amendments to the IRSA Act, and corporate farming. With representation from all four provinces, Kashmir, and minority communities, the event is designed to safeguard regional resources, foster national awareness, and present a unified challenge to the controversial policies of the Shahbaz-Bilawal-Zardari government.
The gathering underscores Awami Tahreek’s commitment to advocating for equitable resource management and resisting initiatives detrimental to the socio-economic and environmental interests of Pakistan’s diverse communities.
