Residents of Gandakha Face Unrelenting Hardships as Floodwaters Refuse to Recede
Gandakha, Jan. 14, Despite the passage of six months since the recent rains and overflowing of drains, the residents of Gandakha city and its surrounding villages continue to face immense difficulties due to the stagnant floodwaters.
The affected areas include Gel Pur Mohallah, Lashari Mohallah, Syedabad Mohallah, and Ghareebabad, as well as several villages, such as Goth Rahmatullah Kambrani, Goth Shadi Khan Jamali, and Goth Mola Bakhsh Jamali. The residents of these areas are forced to wade through two to three feet of water to move around, while schoolchildren are struggling to commute to school.
The situation has also taken a toll on the local agriculture, with thousands of acres of land remaining uncultivated due to the floodwaters. This has resulted in losses worth millions of rupees for the farmers.
The affected residents have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner of Usta Muhammad and the relevant authorities of Balochistan to take immediate notice of the situation and provide a drainage system to alleviate their suffering.
