QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has noted with concern that the federal government’s project of rehabilitation of the 2022 flood affectees of province is facing deadlock, however, we want early completion of the same project.
He urged the federal government to hand over the project to us, we would complete it in eight to nine months.
The Chief Minister was addressing the ceremony of keys of 250 houses built for the 2022 flood affected people in five districts of the province, here at CM’s secretariat on Wednesday.
The houses were built by the welfare trust, namely Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) in Quetta city, Killa Saifullah, Sohbatpur, and Pishin.
The Chief Minister on the occasion handed over keys of the houses to the flood affectees.
Addressing the ceremony, Mir Sarfraz Bugti highly appreciated the spirit of KORT for building houses for the flood affected people of different calamity hit cities of the province.
He said that the organizations like KORT are ray of hope for the people, and as such every possible assistance and encouragement would be made to them.
He on the occasion mentioned that the federal government’s project of rehabilitation of the flood affectees of the province is facing deadlock., and added that the Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inquires about progress on the same (project) in every meeting.
The Chief Minister asked the federal government to hand over the project to us, and we would complete it in eight to nine months. We would ensure provision of relief to the poor affected people by completing construction of the houses on pattern of Sindh, in accordance with the vision of Chairman PPP, he maintained.
He said that if Sindh government can do it, then we have this capacity too. He said that we are desirous of early completion of the project.
He on the announced to set up an institution for orphan children of the province, for the provincial government would provide land.
Referring the 2005 earthquake in the parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister recalled that the whole nation stood by the affectees at that time. He said that the people of Balochistan had also shared the grief of Kashmiri brethren and now KORT has paid back by helping the people of Balochistan.
He thanked the philanthropists, donors, volunteers and all others who contributed in the cause.
About Balochistan, Sarfraz Bugti said that the province is changing, and it would change. We would put the province on path of development together, adding he pledged.
Earlier, the Chairman of KORT, Chaudhary Muhammad Akhtar highlighted the services of the trust.
Prominent among those who participated in the ceremony were included: Provincial Ministers, Mir Saleem Khosa, Mir Asim Kurd, Parliamentary Secretary, Barkat Rind, PPP’s senior leader, Iqbal Shah Advocate, Commissioner Quetta, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, Vice Chairman of Balochistan Investment Board, Bilal Khan Kakar.
