SWAT: January 23, Led by the All-Pakistan Judicial Employees Association (AGEGA), was in response to the government’s proposed pension reforms. The judiciary staff, alongside the lawyers’ community, civil society, and the general public, strongly opposed the reforms, which they described as an “economic massacre” for pensioners. They argued that the government’s cuts to pension benefits would unfairly impact employees in their old age, while members of the assemblies received a 300% salary increase. Protesters rejected the reforms, emphasizing that such policies, driven by IMF demands, were unacceptable. The lawyers’ community expressed solidarity with the judiciary staff and pledged to continue their support, awaiting further directions from AGEGA.
