Peshawar Police Foil Attempt to Smuggle Fake Currency, Arrest Accused
Peshawar:Jan. 23: In a successful operation, the Hayatabad Police Station has foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of fake Pakistani currency, arresting the accused and recovering Rs. 300,000 in counterfeit notes.
According to the police, the accused, a resident of Karachi, was attempting to smuggle the fake currency from Karachi to Peshawar. The police had received a tip-off about the smuggling attempt and had set up a checkpoint to intercept the accused.
The accused was arrested and during initial interrogation, confessed to his involvement in the smuggling of fake currency. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
The successful operation is a significant achievement for the Peshawar Police, who have been cracking down on counterfeit currency smuggling in recent months.
