Mohmand Dam Project: Peshawar. January 25. The Pakistani government has started the construction of a dam on the Swat River with the help of Chinese companies within the boundaries of Mohmand district. According to WAPDA sources, the production capacity of this project is to generate 800 MW of electricity, which will increase electricity production in the country, reduce load shedding and provide many opportunities to keep factories running. And upon completion of this project, 1.29 million acre feet of water will be stored. Thanks to the Mohmand Dam, water will be stored for agriculture, which will promote agriculture at the local level and significantly increase the production of agricultural commodities. While it will also help in preventing floods, which are posing serious threats to the population of Charsadda, Mardan and Nowshera districts due to heavy rains and flood rails due to climate change. With the completion of this project, drinking water will be available to Peshawar city, which is a pressing need of the present time, while cheap and environmentally friendly hydroelectric power will be available. Upon completion of the Mohmand Dam, 1.29 million acre feet of water will be stored, which will bring 18,237 acres of new land under cultivation in addition to 160,000 existing land in Mohmand and Charsadda districts, which is a good omen for farmers. It should be remembered that the power generation capacity of the project is 800 MW, which will provide 2.86 billion units of electricity to the national grid, but it is not yet clear how much electricity will be provided at the local level, that is, to the people of Mohmand and how much royalty and jobs will be given to the Mohmand tribes who have given free land for the construction of the dam. Thanks to the Mohmand Dam, 300 million gallons of water will be provided to the city of Peshawar daily. While the annual benefits of the Mohmand Dam project are equivalent to Rs. 51.6 billion. In which the people of the Mohmand tribe will get some money or not. This is still a mystery.
