By-elections of LG in general seats of 50 wards held in 25 districts of Balochistan
QUETTA: The by-elections of Local Government for 50 general seats in 25 districts of Balochistan province on Sunday..
The process of voting was started at 08:00 AM and remain continued till 05:00 PM without any break.
In all 167 candidates were in the competition run for 50 general seats of the local governments.
The districts where the by-elections were held on general seats were included: Pishin, Chaghai, Kharan, Washuk, Zhob, Shirani, Killa Saifullah, Loralai, Barkhan, Sibi, Harnai, Kohlu, Nasirabad, Sohbatpur, Kachhi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Surab, Mastung, Lasbela, Hub, Kech, Panjgur and Gwadar.
It may be mentioned here that a total of 424 nomination papers had been filed for 202 general seats.
Altogether 60 polling stations with 138 polling booths have been set up for the by-elections of 50 general seats in all 25 districts.
The voters turned up to cast their votes at the polling stations in their respective areas.
The uncontested districts were included: Chaman, Killa Abdullah, Nushki, Ziarat, Dera Bugti, Usta Muhammad, Jhal Magsi and Duki. The nomination papers filed by the candidates for the general seats were rejected by the concerned returning officers.
While a total of 45 seats remained vacant, the total number of uncontested seats are: 107. Therefore, the by-elections were conducted on remaining 50 general seats.
Meanwhile, strict security arrangements were made for conducting the by-elections in 50 wards of 25 districts of the province. However, no untoward incident was reported during the polling process, except a blast in Khuzdar.
