District Coordination Committee Meeting on “Mumta” Program Held in Sanghar

SANGHAR (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A meeting of the District Coordination Committee on the Sindh Government’s “Mumta” program was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Sanghar, Dr. Imran Hassan Khawaja. The meeting reviewed the progress of the program aimed at improving maternal and newborn health across the district.

District Coordinator for the Mumta Program, Kulsoom Joyo, informed the attendees that 40,206 pregnant women have been registered so far under the initiative. Additionally, 92 PPHI centers, three Taluka hospitals, and the Civil Hospital Sanghar have been incorporated into the program. The initiative will also extend support to breastfeeding mothers with children up to 24 months old.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Imran Hassan Khawaja stated that an amount of Rs. 190.23 million had been allocated for pregnant women under the Mumta program in Sanghar, out of which Rs. 132.35 million has already been disbursed. He emphasized that the program is particularly beneficial for women in rural areas and urged all relevant departments to collaborate with the Sindh Social Protection Authority Sanghar to ensure maximum outreach to deserving women.

He further stressed that the program should reach the most vulnerable women to improve maternal and child health effectively.
