Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Development Syed Qasim Ali Shah has said that the provincial government is taking practical steps for the betterment of women in the province and the formal signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Directorate of Social Welfare and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar for the welfare and development of women is a link in this chain.
He expressed these views during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Directorate of Social Welfare and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar regarding the development of women and prevention of begging, which was held at the Directorate of Social Welfare Peshawar and was presided over by Provincial Minister for Social Welfare Syed Qasim Ali Shah. Member Provincial Assembly Major Samiullah Khan, former Town Nazim Arbab Ali Khan, Deputy Director Qayyum Khan, District Officer Social Welfare Peshawar Noor Muhammad Mehsud and Assistant Directors of the Directorate of Social Welfare were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, the Provincial Minister said that this agreement has been signed in the light of the special instructions of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, through which concrete steps will be taken for the development and betterment of women in the province, thanks to which women in the society will be able to lead a better life.
He said that the provincial government is taking strong steps to make women skilled, while ensuring equality in society and protection of their rights for the transgender community so that they can live their daily lives to the fullest and the deprivations found among them can be remedied. The provincial minister said that the Social Welfare Department has launched the Drug-Free Peshawar Phase III campaign and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar will provide its support under the agreement to make Peshawar free
