A large jirga organized by the Action Committee against the establishment of Kanju Cantonment Board was attended by representatives and residents of Union Councils Kanju Dherai, Koza Bandai and Bara Bandai. The meeting strongly opposed the proposed establishment of a Cantonment Board in the area, citing public displeasure and concerns about land encroachment. The meeting was addressed by prominent local personalities including Sultan Ali Khan, MPA Sultan Rum Khan, Rashid Ahmed Swati, Kanju Township Society President Amjad Kamalzai, MPA Sultan Rum, Tehsil Chairman Saeed Khan, former MPA Rehmat Ali Khan, Village Council Nazim Fatehullah Khan, Malik Aftab Ali, Shah Hussain, Mohibul Haq, Rahim Shah and other important local personalities. , and the speakers unanimously expressed their rejection of the project. The speakers highlighted that the government has already acquired valuable lands in Swat for FC camp, airport and cantonment. Now that limited land is left, they accused the authorities of starting the Cantonment Board without consulting the people. They stressed that no project in any country can be implemented forcibly without public consent. The jirga warned that forcibly establishing the Cantonment Board will disrupt law and order in the area. The speakers held the government and the relevant institutions responsible for any unrest or security issues. They announced that the residents would strongly resist any attempt to go ahead with the project, urging the authorities to respect the will of the people. A committee was formed during the jirga to meet the Chief Minister, Governor and other concerned authorities to apprise them of the grievances of the people and demand the withdrawal of the proposed plan. The jirga concluded with a clear warning to all institutions, stating that any anti-people move would face strong resistance from the local population.
