QUETTA: The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan presided over the meeting about establishing Medical Emergency Response Centers (MERCs) on the N-40 Highway in the province.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Secretary said that the number of casualties and serious injuries have to be reduced by ensuring the pre-hospital care of high quality and timely access of the injured persons in case of accidents on highways.
The meeting was informed that that the Reko Dik Mining Company (RDMC) wants to establish mutual partnership between MERC Rescue 1122 and Government of Balochistan. There is no Emergency Response Center at the portion of N-40, as a result, the passengers face threat to their lives in case of the emergent circumstances.

The partnership with the best service providers and government high ups would ensure it that the project is in conformity with the regional healthcare services and development projects.
The Chief Secretary on the occasion took interest in the proposal of RDMC and termed it an important need of the hour.
