CM decides to pen letter to PM over slowness in release of funds for federal projects
Mir Sarfraz Bugti sets timeline for completion of development projects; strictly directs to ensure emphasizing upon completing work on 90 percent projects by June this year
QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has decided to write a letter to the Prime Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif over the issue of slowness in the release of funds allocated for federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Balochistan.
He directed to all the departments to provide detail of release of the funds of federal development projects.
The Chief Minister asserted that we would send a detailed letter to the Prime Minister on delay in release of funds for all important development projects including Kachhi canal.
He was chairing a high level review meeting on the implementation and progress of the PSDP here on Monday.
During the course of meeting, the slowness was pinpointed in release of the development funds allocated for Balochistan in the federal PSDP.
The meeting was attended by the Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Mir Zahoor Buledi, Minister Irrigation, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Minister Industries, Sardar Kohyar Khan Domki, Minister Finance, Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Planning, Hafiz Abdul Basit, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Shahab Shah, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Babar Khan, besides all secretaries of the provincial government departments.
The Provincial Minister for Planning and other concerned high ups briefed the meeting about the situation of release of funds and implementation on the federal and provincial development projects.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister directed to all concerned to expedite pace of implementation on the development projects in the province.
He also set timeline for completion of development projects in the province and strictly directed to ensure it timely.
The Chief Minister particularly directed to complete work on 90 percent projects by the end of June this year.
He also directed to the Finance Department to ensure release of funds for all the approved projects without any delay. The existing laws of finance should be improved for removing hurdles in the release of funds, he maintained.
He on the occasion announced to include 100 percent approved projects in the next financial year budget.
H also directed to propose comprehensive projects for raising living standard of the minorities.
Moreover, he directed to bring the green and pink buses on the roads at the earliest so as to provide better travelling facilities to the general public.
The Chief Minister on the occasion ordered to release funds for the development of Press Clubs of Turbat and Jaffarabad immediately so as to complete the same by end of June this year.
During the course of meeting, he expressed satisfaction over the initiatives taken for improving healthcare services in the department. However, he directed to expedite pace of work on the projects in health sector.
He also directed to inaugurate construction of the hospital approved for Naseerabad on pattern of Gambat.
The Chief Minister expressed anguish over not responding to his questions about the projects of Forest Department by the concerned high ups present in the meeting.
He asked them as for what they have come in the high-level meeting without preparation. He said that non-seriousness on part of the concerned officers is regrettable, adding he ordered to Chief Secretary to take action against them.
Similarly, he also expressed displeasure over slow pace of work on the projects of Religious Affairs Department.
