Court Fines 9 Million to Individuals Involved in Illegal Mining
Nowshera: Feb 14. In a major crackdown on illegal mining, the Mines Magistrate of Nowshera has imposed a 9 million rupee fine on nine individuals found guilty of unauthorized excavation the according to AC Sher zaman dogar. The arrests took place near the Kernel Sher Khan Interchange during an operation led by Assistant Commissioner Jehangira, Mr. Gohar Ali, along with law enforcement agencies.
During the court proceedings, the accused denied any illegal activity, claiming they were only leveling the land. However, an investigation conducted by Additional Director of Mines and Inspector Nouman confirmed that the site, owned by the PHA department, was being exploited for unauthorized mining.
The court noted that no official lease or documentation permitted excavation at the location. Despite the defense’s arguments, the Mines Magistrate ruled that the available evidence, including statements from the AD Mines and the police, was sufficient to establish the offense.
As per the verdict, the accused must collectively pay a 9 million rupee fine or face a one-year prison sentence in case of non-payment. Additionally, the court ordered the confiscation of the case property, formally concluding the case.
This ruling reinforces the government’s commitment to cracking down on illegal mining, ensuring stricter regulatory enforcement to protect natural resources and uphold the law.
