SWAT: Feb 18. A meeting of the District Vigilance Committee Swat was held at Swat Jail, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Swat, Shahzad Mehboob. During the meeting, Swat Jail Superintendent Muhammad Arif Khan and Deputy Superintendent Rahim Shah Khan conducted a detailed tour of the jail for DC Swat. They inspected various departments including the cook house, hospital wards, mini lab, and the dispensary’s medicine stock.
In response to the prisoners’ needs, the Deputy Commissioner provided 150 blankets and other woolen items, which were distributed among female prisoners, juvenile prisoners, and those at the drug rehabilitation center. Notably, no complaints were reported by the prisoners regarding the jail administration.
DC Shahzad Mehboob praised the establishment of a model interview room and mini lab. He also instructed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) to coordinate with an NGO for acquiring a water filtration plant and an ultrasound machine for the facility. Additionally, he directed concerned officers to organize a medical camp and sports gala the following week.
The DC also personally directed the DEO (Per Mail) to arrange for female teachers to run a literacy center for female prisoners. Furthermore, the TMO was instructed to provide more dustbins for both the jail building and its colony.
