Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Law, Aftab Alam Advocate, has stated that the government is taking comprehensive measures to address the issues faced by lawyers and bar councils in the merged districts on a priority basis. Financial assistance is being provided to bar councils at both the district and tehsil levels, which is clear evidence of the government’s commitment to resolve the challenges faced by the legal community.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting with the presidents and general secretaries of bar councils from the merged districts at the Civil Secretariat Peshawar. The meeting was attended by the Advocate General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as well as representatives from bar councils of South Waziristan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, North Waziristan, and other merged districts.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on the various issues faced by bar councils in the merged districts. These issues included infrastructure development, establishment of libraries, electricity supply, bar council registration, facilitation in opening bank accounts for grant allocations, and availability of parking facilities.
The Provincial Minister for Law assured the bar councils of the government’s full support and pledged that all concerns of the legal community would be addressed at the earliest. He further emphasized that provision of better facilities for lawyers is a top priority for the government so that they can perform their professional duties more effectively.
