Pakistan’s Former Federal Minister Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi Remanded in Judicial Custody

Naushero Feroze. Feb. 19. Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, the former federal minister and chief of the National Peoples Party (NPP), has been remanded in judicial custody by an anti-terrorism court in Naushahro Feroze. Jatoi was presented before the court in an armored vehicle, handcuffed, amidst tight security arrangements.

The court adjourned the hearing until February 20, granting time to Jatoi’s counsel to prepare his bail application. Meanwhile, police have registered additional cases against Jatoi, including those related to encounters in Dokri and Bara.

A large contingent of police personnel was deployed outside the court, with hundreds of NPP workers also present. The city’s main road, Padiden Road, was closed by police to maintain law and order. Jatoi’s judicial custody marks a significant development in the ongoing case against him ¹.
