LARKANA: The last social alliance protested in front of the press club against the increasing lawlessness, social vices, drug trafficking, and unresolved issues of citizens in Larkana district under the title “Long Live Peace.” On this occasion, the protesters held placards and banners that had writings such as “Slogans of Long Live Peace” and “End Lawlessness.” The protesters also chanted slogans against the police. During this event, leaders of various organizations, including Hafiz Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, Liaquat Ali Umrani, Haji Ghulam Hussain Jatoi, and others, expressed strong protest, stating that in Larkana city and throughout the district’s villages and urban areas, there have been robberies, thefts, murders, lawlessness, and especially illegal police actions, making life difficult for ordinary people. Recently, a Hindu trader, Sanjeev Kumar, was murdered after being injured during a robbery, and the police have yet to arrest the responsible individuals. Meanwhile, within the entire district, under the patronage of the Larkana police, obscenity, drug trafficking, gambling, and other social evils are openly taking place, which has pushed the younger generation to the brink of destruction instead of studying. However, the police have limited their actions to police stations. No appropriate measures have been taken by the administration regarding cleanliness in the city, resulting in heaps of garbage everywhere. Despite having an annual budget of billions of rupees, Larkana has been neglected, leading to corruption in the budget, allowing even small employees to live in lavish bungalows worth millions. They demanded that steps be taken against lawlessness, social vices, drug trafficking, and corruption, and to improve sanitation in the city to ensure protection and basic facilities for the citizens.
