Mohmand Butchers Defy Price Ceiling, Meat Prices Skyrocket Ahead of Ramadan

Ghalanai, Feb 21, Butchers in Mian Mandi Bazaar, Mohmand, have unilaterally increased meat prices by Rs. 150 per kilogram, flouting the government-set price list. The sudden price hike, from Rs. 850 to Rs. 1,000 per kilogram, has left consumers worried, while the local administration remains silent.

According to sources, butchers in the largest commercial center of the tribal district arbitrarily raised meat prices ahead of Ramadan. A consultative meeting was held to address the issue, but butchers refused to budge, leaving consumers at their mercy.
