Awami Tehreek Condemns Water Theft, Land Grab, and ID Issuance to Foreigners
Shikarpur, Feb. 21. Sindh: Awami Tehreek, a leftist political party, has strongly condemned the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) for facilitating water theft, corporate land occupation, and the issuance of identity cards to foreigners.
During a conference at the Shikarpur Press Club, party leaders, including Central Senior Vice President Noor Ahmad Katiar, Central General Secretary Advocate Sajjid Hussain Mahesar, and Vice President Sattar Rind, accused the PPP of perpetuating a system of exploitation in Sindh. Sindhiani Tehreek leaders Sindhu Hassan and Kousar Phulpoto also spoke at the conference, emphasizing the need for revolutionary change in Sindh.
The leaders denounced the construction of six new canals from the Indus River, calling it an act of terror that would exacerbate the existing water crisis in Sindh. They also expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in the province.
Awami Tehreek’s stance is rooted in its history of advocating for the rights of the people of Sindh. The party was founded by Rasool Bux Palijo, a veteran leftist intellectual and politician who believed in the national rights of the Sindhi people and advocated for a “National People’s Democratic Revolution” ¹.
The conference was a call to action against the exploitation of Sindh’s resources and the marginalization of its people. Awami Tehreek and its allies vow to continue their struggle for the rights of the people of Sindh.
