Balochistan Governor Celebrates International Mother Language Day’s Silver Jubilee

Quetta, Feb 21, : Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail marked the Silver Jubilee of International Mother Language Day, emphasizing the significance of mother languages in preserving national identity, promoting knowledge, and fostering sustainable development.

In his message, Mandokhail highlighted that mother languages play a vital role in shaping a nation’s character and ensuring its progress. He noted that the United Nations Charter and Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution guarantee the protection and promotion of mother languages.

International Mother Language Day, observed annually on February 21, celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity, promoting tolerance, understanding, and peace worldwide ¹. This year’s celebrations aim to highlight the importance of languages in national development and human connection.

Mandokhail stressed the need to promote intellectual and literary works in mother languages to foster harmony and unity among diverse languages and cultures. He emphasized that mother languages are not only a means of expression but also a tool for mutual connection.

The governor’s message reiterated the significance of preserving linguistic diversity, as languages play a strategic role in identity, communication, social integration, education, and development ².
