Federal Ombudsman Officials Hold Open Court in Paharpur to Address Public Grievances
Dera Ismail Khan, February 26: Officials from the Federal Ombudsman’s Regional Office in Dera Ismail Khan, including Senior Investigation Officer Imran Khan, Deputy Registrar Shafqat Ali, and Data Control/Implementation Officer Chaudhry Imran Mehmood, held an open court at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office in Paharpur Tehsil. The session, conducted under the directives of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, aimed to resolve public grievances against federal departments.
During the open court, citizens raised numerous complaints, particularly against PESCO WAPDA, Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and NADRA. In response, the Federal Ombudsman officials issued immediate directives to the concerned departments, providing on-the-spot relief to the complainants.
Speaking at a press conference, the officials emphasized that, following the instructions of Federal Ombudsman Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, such open courts are being organized in remote areas, including former FATA regions. They also highlighted their ongoing inspections of government offices to ensure better service delivery. Additionally, they informed the public about the Institutional Reforms & Digitalization (IRD) program and the services of the Ombudsman’s office.
“The primary purpose of today’s open court was to ensure direct access for citizens to government officials so that their issues can be resolved at their doorstep,” the officials stated. They further instructed relevant departments to handle public grievances efficiently and warned against any negligence or delays in addressing citizens’ problems.
The officials reiterated that the Federal Ombudsman’s office provides free, easy, and swift justice, requiring no lawyer, stamp paper, or processing fees. Complaints against mismanagement in federal institutions—such as electricity, gas, NADRA, passports, and BISP—can be lodged directly, by mail, online, or through the mobile app.
The public appreciated this initiative by the Federal Ombudsman’s office, acknowledging the importance of such open courts in facilitating citizens and ensuring accountability in government institutions.
