Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E Jiang Zaidong met with the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur
Peshawar Feb 27. Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, H.E Jiang Zaidong met with the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, on Thursday at the Rashakai Special Economic Zone and made discussion on investment opportunities in various sectors, including agriculture, energy, and mines & minerals. Both the dignitaries agreed to enhance cooperation between China and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in multiple fields. Relevant senior officials from the provincial government and the Chinese Embassy were also present on this occasion.
The Chief Minister invited the Chinese Ambassador to establish industrial units in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for solar systems manufacturing and value addition and finishing of minerals and said that vast investment opportunities are available in sectors such as mines and energy & power in the province. He added that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will warmly welcome Chinese investment in the province and would extend full support to investors.
In his remarks, the Chief Minister said that the provincial government is working to provide industries with various incentives, including cheaper electricity adding that ongoing hydropower projects are expected to generate 800 megawatts of electricity by 2028, and a provincial transmission line is being laid to supply industries with electricity at cheaper rates.
The Chief Minister further said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is actively working on clean and green energy initiatives. in this context, a total of 130,000 deserving households are being provided with free of cost solar systems, and to fifty percent of them at subsidized rates, and on easy installments. Similarly, he said that all government buildings in the province are being shifted to solar power.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that a special mining company has been established to ensure the efficient utilization of mineral resources, aiming to maximize benefits from these resources. He added that through effective monitoring and transparency, the provincial government has increased its revenue by 55% in the last one year.
Highlighting the people-friendly initiatives of his government, the Chief Minister said that under the Sehat Card program, 100% of the population in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being provided with free medical treatment facilities, while work is also underway to launch a life insurance scheme for the province’s citizens.
Additionally, the provincial government is providing interest-free loans worth Rs. 15 billion to youth to establish their businesses, adding that for promoting homestay tourism, additional Rs 4 billion would be extended to citizens as interest free loan. The Chief Minister said that efforts are also being made to strengthen the private sector to create more employment opportunities for the youth.
Ali Amin Gandapur mentioned that two separate programs have been launched to provide monthly stipends to widows and orphaned children. Furthermore, projects such as the construction of the CRBC and small dams are underway to ensure food security. The use of modern technology in the agriculture sector is essential, and the provincial government is keen to benefit from Chinese expertise in this regard, he added.
On this occasion, the Chinese Ambassador assured enhanced cooperation in various sectors and appreciated the provincial government’s initiatives to increase revenue and improve the welfare of the deserving and middle-class population. He also praised the Chief Minister’s commitment to the development and prosperity of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that cooperation between China and Pakistan will further strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
