Comprehensive Strategy Formed to Tackle Monsoon Rains in Sanghar
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) District administration has devised a multi-faceted strategy to deal with the anticipated monsoon rains. Under this plan, relevant departments have been directed to ensure proper drainage, clean rainwater channels, and keep pumping machines in working condition. Additionally, a District Control Room will be established at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to monitor the rain situation.
A high-level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner & Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Sanghar, Dr. Imran-ul-Hassan Khawaja, to review preparations for the expected monsoon rains. The meeting was attended by officials from all departments across the district.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration had already completed all necessary preparations for the upcoming monsoon rains. However, efforts are still underway to ensure the timely drainage of rainwater in all subdivisions. He emphasized that pumping machines are fully operational to prevent water accumulation in low-lying and urban areas.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Health Department to ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals, along with the availability of essential medicines. Mobile medical teams will also be dispatched to rain-affected areas. Moreover, arrangements will be made to tackle potential heatwaves.
He further directed subdivisional administrations to stay in close coordination with the district administration and report any emergency situations immediately. Fire brigade vehicles must also be kept in working condition. In addition to the District Control Room, similar control rooms will be set up in each subdivision under the supervision of Assistant Commissioners.
The Deputy Commissioner reassured that the district administration is actively working to minimize the potential damage from monsoon rains, and all necessary arrangements have been completed. He also directed municipal, town committee, and UC secretaries to conduct anti-mosquito spray campaigns immediately after the rains to prevent the spread of diseases.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioners, Municipal and Town Chairmen, Local Government officers, Drainage Engineer Akhtar Ali Khaskheli, SDO Irshad Soomro, Public Health Engineer Shahid Ali, representatives of social organizations, and officials from various departments.
