Mohmand District: March 5. Mohmand District butchers closed all their shops at once to increase the cost of meat and were adamant about selling meat at their preferred rates. But the local administration arrested the butchers during the crackdown during Ramadan. According to details, with the arrival of Ramadan in the tribal district of Mohmand, butchers in local markets like Mian Mandi, Ghalnai, Yakh Ghand, Lakro, Atta Bazaar and other suburbs united against the public, locked their shops and disappeared, creating an artificial shortage of meat. Before Ramadan, the district administration had fixed the price of large meat at Rs 850 per kg in the District Price Review Committee meeting, while butchers continued to sell it at Rs 1,000 per kg on their own initiative, while the price of small meat was increased from Rs 900 to Rs 1,100. In this regard, the local district administration, while cracking down on butchers, has arrested and remanded nine high-priced butchers in Chinari, Mian Mandi, Chanda and Ghalnai areas. In this regard, the local district administration has set up price review desks in all the markets of the area to control artificial inflation and has appealed to the public to identify illegal profiteers. Deputy Commissioner Mohmand Muhammad Yasir Hassan while talking to the media said that the district administration is trying to make all edible items available at cheap rates during the month of Ramadan. Meat is among the most widely used edible items in Mohmand district. DC Mohmand, while expressing his views, said that before Ramadan, the district administration has fixed the price of meat per kilogram in Mohmand district at Rs 850.
Deputy Commissioner Mohmand said that the price of meat per kilogram was set at Rs 50 higher than in the lower districts so that transportation costs could be included in it. Deputy Commissioner Mohmand said that we came to know from the complaints of the public that butchers are selling meat at Rs 900 and Rs 1000 per kilogram in the markets. Deputy Commissioner Mohmand Muhammad Yasir Hassan has set up price monitoring desks in every market to provide relief to the people during Ramadan.
He said that Assistant Commissioners are visiting different markets on a daily basis and taking action against butchers. He said that so far, 9 butchers have been arrested from different markets on public complaints. Deputy Commissioner Mohmand Yasir Hassan said that our goal is to benefit the public during Ramadan and make meat available at Rs. 850 per kg.
