Governor exhorts public universities to give priority transparency & answerability in financial affairs

QUETTA: The Governor Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail has exhorted the public sector universities to give priority to the transparency and answerability in the financial affairs.
He also urged them to enforce the procedure of internal and external audit for ending the financial irregularities.
He stressed that it is responsibility of every vice Chancellor to ensure holding of meetings of the Senate and Syndicate besides conducting the examinations in their respective universities.
The Vice Chancellors should also refrain from the unnecessary expenditures.
In this context, no negligence would be tolerated at all, Governor asserted while chairing meeting of second Senate meeting of University of Gwadar here on Thursday.
Those who were present in the meeting were included Provincial Minister for Education, Rahila Hameed Durrani, Secretary Higher Education, Saleh Muhammad Baloch, Vice Chancellor, Gwadar University, Professor Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Vice Chancellor of Balochistan University, Dr Zahoor Ahmed Bazai, Principal Secretary to Governor, Muhammad Hashim Khan Ghilzai and Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr Manzoor Ahmed.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor said that it is appreciable to present new recommendations by the participants in meeting.
This would help provide guidance to prepare strategic plan for the University, he added.
He said that although vice Chancellors are responsible for administrative affairs as well as supervision of educational programmes and research activities in the public sector universities. However, they also play important role in providing strategic guidance to the governing body, monitoring the formulated policies and decisions besides spearheading the universities in important ceremonies, he maintained.
He noted with pleasure that Gwadar university is in good position for ensuring development in sectors of blue economy and marine sciences from research point of view.
He stressed that promotion of educational partnership in the research sector and mutual cooperation among all public sector universities of the province so that they may benefit from the knowledge and experience of each other.
In the end, Governor distributed commemorative shields among the members of University’s senate.
