CM announces to abolish Zakat Department on“poor performance”
QUETTA: While expressing dismay over “poor” performance of the Provincial Zakat Department, the Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has hinted to abolish the Department. He regretfully pointed out that Rs. 1.6 billion are spent on the Zakat Department for distribution of Rs. 300 million on account of zakat.
The Chief Minister made this announcement while addressing a ceremony at Government Postgraduate Science College the other day.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti noted that Zakat Department distributes Rs. 300 million annually among the deserving persons on account of zakat. Rs. 1.6 billion are spent on the department for distribution of zakat of Rs. 300 million annually, he mentioned adding that at least 80 vehicles are under use of the department for distribution of zakat.
What’s awesome is that the amount of zakat has also not been distributed for last two years, he added.
He said that he would get the amount of zakat distributed among the deserving persons through Deputy Commissioners after abolishing the Zakat department.
