Protest by SPLA Unit Tando Adam Against Illegal Canals on River Indus
Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) Unit at Government New Aligarh Postgraduate College, Tando Adam, staged a protest against the construction of illegal canals on the River Indus under the leadership of Unit President Professor Zulfiqar Ali Jatoi.
During the protest, participants raised slogans against the illegal canals being built on the River Indus. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Zulfiqar Ali Jatoi stated that the people of Sindh strongly oppose these canals, and proceeding with their construction under such circumstances cannot be considered a wise decision.
He further emphasized that the River Indus is the lifeline of Sindh’s agricultural economy and environment, and the construction of these canals could lead to water shortages and other serious crises.
The protest was attended by several professors, including Professor Syed Habibullah Shah, Professor Nazaqat Ali Sial, Professor Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum, Professor Azhar Ahmed Baig, Professor Danish Latif Nizamani, Professor Yaad Hussain Shaikh, Professor Ahmed Jibran Ghori, Professor Bilal Ahmed Ghori, Professor Sajid Ansari, Professor Raja Irfan, Professor Sikandar Ali Malokhani, Professor Abrar Ahmed Baig, Professor Afzal Qureshi, Professor Muhammad Ali Qureshi, Professor Dodo Asad Soomro, Professor Aachar Junejo, Professor Liaqat Panhwar, Professor Malik Mazhar, Professor Muhammad Adil Saand, Professor Qazi Ashfaq Hussain Jahejo, Professor Hasnain Nizamani, Professor Hira Khadim Hussain Khaskheli, along with Ghulam Hussain Seenhro, Iqbal Ali, Muhammad Bux Makorani, Khan Muhammad Dahri, and Zahid Iqbal Arain. A large number of teachers, students, and citizens also participated in the demonstration.
The protesters demanded that the authorities immediately halt the construction of these illegal canals on the River Indus to protect Sindh’s lands and people from potential risks and environmental damage.
