By M. Ilyas Mullakhel

Islam Abad – Senior officer of Punjab Police, DIG Admin Lahore, Imran Kishwar, has unexpectedly resigned, causing a stir within police circles. His sudden resignation after a long and assertive service career has raised numerous questions. Imran Kishwar, who has commanded sensitive districts such as Kasur, Sheikhupura, Narowal, and Muzaffargarh, also held key positions including SSP Investigation Lahore, DIG Investigation Lahore, DIG Operations Command Unit Lahore, and DIG Admin Lahore. His role as the head of the JIT (Joint Investigation Team) for the investigation of the 9th May cases was particularly significant. However, his recent step is both unexpected and intriguing, leaving many wondering about the reasons behind it.

In his resignation letter, Imran Kishwar clearly expressed an internal conflict that had been troubling him.He wrote:

“When loyalty collides with apathy and indifference, one realizes that loyalty is no longer an obligation. I have spent the best years of my career enforcing the law, but now I wish to pursue a lifelong dream embracing the power of the pen and the strength of words.”

These words undoubtedly reflect his inner turmoil and deep emotions.A police officer who dedicated his life to upholding the law, when he says he “will not remain silent,” suggests there may be deeper layers to his decision.

Sources indicate that Imran Kishwar had been under immense pressure in recent times, particularly during the investigations of the 9th May cases. He was burdened with high expectations and might have been aware of certain matters that led to his internal struggle. Some analysts believe that the timing of his resignation suggests he sought to free himself from internal politics or mounting pressure. In his letter, Imran Kishwar expressed his desire to embrace the “power of the pen” rather than the “power of the uniform.” His statement suggests that he may be planning to write revelations or accounts that expose the realities he witnessed during his service.

The question arises: Is he merely stepping into the world of literature and journalism, or will his words unveil stories from behind the scenes? If he chooses to write about internal police affairs, it could cause significant upheaval and draw considerable attention.

So far, there has been no official response from Punjab Police or the government regarding Imran Kishwar’s resignation. However, discussions among police officers are ongoing. Some regard him as an honest and courageous officer, while others speculate that his resignation may be part of a larger, concealed narrative.

In concluding his resignation letter, Imran Kishwar wrote:

“I am closing this chapter with a free mind and a heart unburdened. I served with honor, but I will not serve in silence.”

These words indicate that his journey is not over; rather, he is embarking on a new path. The question now is whether his future writings will stir controversy or simply establish his identity in a new field. While these questions remain, one thing is clear that Punjab Police has lost a significant and bold officer, and his resignation has already sparked a new debate.
