Balochistan Food Authority Board Holds 11th Meeting, Approves Key Decisions

(Quetta, March 18 ) The 11th meeting of the Balochistan Food Authority Board was held at the BFA headquarters Quetta, under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Food and BFA Chairman, Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar. The meeting was attended by Member of the Provincial Assembly and Parliamentary Secretary Haji Wali Muhammad Noorzai, Secretary of Agriculture Noor Ahmed Parkani, Secretary of Food Muzaffar Zeeshan Lehri, BFA Director General Waqar Khurshid Alam, representatives of the traders’ association, the Chamber of Commerce, and other board members.
The meeting reviewed the overall performance of the authority and approved several key decisions. These included the installation of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at the BFA headquarters, the launch of a paid internship program for university students across the province, the establishment of a blood testing laboratory at the headquarters, and the procurement of vehicles for divisional and district offices.
Addressing the meeting, BFA Chairman Haji Noor Muhammad Dummar emphasized the importance of improving the authority’s performance and making inspection teams at the divisional and district levels fully functional. He reaffirmed the commitment to utilizing all available resources effectively to ensure the uninterrupted supply of safe and healthy food across the province.
The provincial minister further stressed the need to promote a stronger food safety culture, urging BFA to take strict action against all entities involved in the distribution of substandard food. He particularly highlighted the importance of enhanced inspection strategies for major industrial units and food production facilities.
Chairman BFA reiterated that the authority would continue working alongside manufacturers, food business operators, consumers, government departments, and other stakeholders to eliminate substandard food and uphold the highest food safety standards throughout the supply chain.
Earlier, Director General BFA,Waqar Khurshid Alam provided a comprehensive briefing to the participants on the authority’s initiatives and the agenda of the meeting.
