South Waziristan: March 19. Fear of humanitarian crisis due to curfew, people are forced to starve Foodstuffs and medical facilities missing in Ramadan, district administration missing
According to the details, the long curfew imposed by the security agencies and the district administration in South Waziristan has put the people in dire straits. During the holy month of Ramadan, citizens have been deprived of essential food items, while the fear of a humanitarian crisis has arisen due to the non-availability of basic facilities.
Due to the closure of markets, shops and commercial centers due to the curfew, there has been an acute shortage of food. Citizens say that the food and drink supplies in their homes have run out, and due to the lack of new reserves, it has become difficult to observe the fast. Milk, flour, sugar, pulses and other items are negligible.
Due to the curfew, even the emergency patients are not being provided treatment in the hospitals, due to which the condition of many sick people is getting worse. Women and elderly patients are the most affected, while the ambulance service has also been suspended, making it impossible to transport patients to other cities.
Despite public complaints, district administration officers are absent from their offices, district administration offices are locked in sub-division Survekai sub-division Ladha and tehsil Makin and other areas and administrative officers are missing and instead of solving public problems, they are making the situation worse. According to citizens, whenever one visits an office, the doors are locked and no official is available. The people have become helpless and trapped in their homes.
The public and social circles have expressed serious concern over this serious situation and the citizens say that if the curfew is not relaxed immediately and the availability of basic items is not ensured, the situation may deteriorate further.
The victims have demanded the government, army and other high authorities to take emergency measures for the delivery of food and medical facilities in South Waziristan, to make the administration duty-bound at its station. If the authorities do not take immediate action, the situation may get out of control and more problems may arise.
