Arrival of Federal Ministers in Quetta welcoming, thankful to Prime Minister: Resolution of federation-related issues to strengthen Balochistan’s narrative & address anti-state propaganda, maintains Chief Minister
QUETTA: While welcoming the Federal Ministers and Secretaries and heads of other federal Government institutions in Quetta, Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stated that the resolution of the federal-related issues would strengthen the narrative of province and practically address the anti-state propaganda.
This is very welcoming and good initiative for we are thankful to the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to resolve the issue of delay causing in the project of solarization of agricultural tube wells pointing out that it is causing financial loss to the growers.
Therefore, there is a need to resolve the issue immediately, he added.
He also stressed the need to expedite speed of projects of National Highway Authority in the province. He regretfully pointed out that no motorway exits in Balochistan. He pleaded to the Communications department to construct at least five kilometers of motorway in Balochistan so that the people of province may feel the existence of motorway too.
The Chief Minister said that we are providing opportunities of education to the youth in the best universities of world including Harvard after bringing them out of the smuggling and illegal trade. Because their future is not the smuggling and Iranian oil laden vehicles, but education.
He also expressed concern in 24-year delay in the Kachhi canal project and demanded of the federal government to ensure 100 releases in the resources allocated for it.
The Chief Minister was addressing the high-level meeting attended by the federal ministers, senior federal bureaucrats including secretaries, heads of different key departments and institutions from Islamabad here on Thursday.
Certain important decisions were made during course of meeting. The higher authorities briefed the meeting about related matters and issues.
At the outset, 47 agenda points were discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, it was proposed to make one time registration of around 6,000 fishing boats in the jurisdiction of Balochistan while there was consensus on effective coordination among federal and provincial governments for prevention of the illegal fishing.
In this regard, there was also consensus on the installation of trekking system, establishment of control room and other concrete measures.
The Ministry of Petroleum was also agreed upon payment of three years arrears to the province payable against PPL.
Moreover, it was also decided to make anti-smuggling campaign more effective in the province.
Moreover, the progress on the solarization of agricultural tube wells was also reviewed in addition to the electricity related issues being faced by the zamindars.
The Miniseries of Finance and Energy promised to pay remaining amount to the zamindars for installation of the solar tube wells in second week of April.
The Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Khan Leghari assured the early completion of the project. The Inspector General of Railway Police Rai Tahir briefed about the measures for safety of the railway tracks and traveling facilities in the province.
The Ministry of Communications briefed about the projects of ongoing highways in the province. There was consensus on accelerating work on the Mashkail-Panjgur road as well as Gwadar port, Rekodik and Saindak projects. The meeting was also assured to increase the annually allocated resources for early completion of the Kachhi canal project.
Meanwhile, the Planning Commission informed that the funds of Rs. 1 billion would be released soon for coping with the socio-economic challenges in all divisions according to the announcement made by the Prime Minister.
During the course of meeting, the Foreign Ministry briefed about the diplomatic measures against the countries involved in the aid of terrorist organizations in Balochistan.
The assurance was made by the Ministry of Information for making the offices of all national media channels functional besides restoration of bureau offices of the Bol TV and GNN.
It was also decided to make CTD more effective together with the federal government and to provide resources for tackling the illegal trawling and building capacity of the coast guard further.
The meeting also emphasized upon promoting the national narrative for countering terrorism.
Moreover, it was decided to establish a committee under supervision of Secretary Law for effective legislation at the provincial level regarding missing persons.
