Snow Clearance Efforts Underway in Astore
To restore connectivity in upper Astore, snow clearance operations are in full swing. Deputy Commissioner Astore has directed the clearance of all roads, with Assistant Commissioner Shounter Tanveer Ahmed leading the efforts.
Heavy snowfall, landslides, and avalanches had blocked roads connecting Treshing, Mir Malk, and other areas. The Gilgit-Baltistan Disaster Management Authority (GBDMA) and Communication & Works Department (C&WD) are collaborating to clear the roads.
Although a technical issue forced the C&W dozer to return to Astore, the GBDMA’s wheel dozer has been dispatched to Mir Malk. Meanwhile, the GBDMA’s excavator is clearing snow between Treshing and Chorit, and the C&WD’s machinery is working on opening the Mir Malk road.
Possible efforts are being made to restore the roads quickly.
