10 injured persons including police cops brought in hospital: GoB spokesman justifies police action against BYC for opening highway describing it in accordance with law

Shahid Rind says protection of life and property of public constitutional obligation of government

 

QUETTA: The spokesman, Government of Balochistan, Shahid Rind has justified the police crackdown against the protesters for opening the national highway saying that the police took action in accordance with law.
In an official statement issued here on Friday, the spokesman of provincial government said that the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) caused inconvenience to the public by blocking national highway.
He said that the people coming from Karachi and other cities suffered a lot due to the closure of the highway.
He said that the police took action for opening the road according to law.
The spokesman said that the protesters pelted stones on the police and did violence.
During this, 10 injured persons including lady police constable and other cops were brought in the hospital.
Shahid Rind said that it is yet to be ascertained that whose bodies were these the BYC lodged protest on the road with.
He said that the causes can not be determined as long as the bodies of deceased are not brought in the hospital and complete the codal formalities, he added.
The spokesman further said that chaos is being created by disrupting law and order situation.
However, no one would be allowed to take law in hand, he asserted adding that the government can’t become silent spectator, if the law and order situation is created by taking law in one’s hand.
He also said that it is constitutional obligation of the government to protect life and property of the people, which would be fulfilled anyway.
