Message from Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Earth Hour 2025
Islamabad, March 21, 2025: In his message on the occasion of Earth Hour 2025, Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, stated that the National Assembly of Pakistan, by joining this global campaign, reaffirms its commitment to environmental conservation. He emphasized that Earth Hour is not merely about turning off lights for one hour; rather, it symbolizes our collective determination to protect the Earth, transcending borders, politics, and beliefs.
He mentioned that, in collaboration with Worldwide Fund for Nature-Pakistan (WWF-Pakistan), every year during Earth Hour, the National Assembly of Pakistan demonstrates solidarity with the planet by switching off unnecessary lights in the Parliament House for one hour. Continuing this tradition, tomorrow, on March 22, 2025, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, the unnecessary lights in the Parliament House will be turned off to raise awareness among the public about environmental issues.
He remarked that when we switch off the lights for one hour, we must reflect on the fact that individual actions, when combined, can lead to significant change. He further added that small, positive actions collectively play a crucial role in the larger goal of sustainability and environmental protection.
He also stressed that Pakistan, with its rich and diverse ecosystem and natural resources, is among the countries most vulnerable to the severe impacts of climate change. He highlighted that addressing the climate crisis requires coordinated strategies and practical actions to ensure a safe and prosperous planet for future generations.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq further stated that the need to reduce air pollution, control the emission of toxic gases, use natural resources wisely, and promote eco-friendly policies has never been more critical. He urged all segments of society to prioritize environmental protection and adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives to guarantee a healthy and balanced environment.
He emphasized that if we work together, the creation of a bright, green, and prosperous Earth is possible. He appealed to the public to embrace Earth Hour 2025 not just as a symbolic gesture but as an ongoing part of their lifestyle, so that concrete and effective steps can be taken to protect the planet.
Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also commended WWF-Pakistan’s role in environmental conservation and described their efforts in safeguarding the Earth as commendable.
