Muzaffarabad (PID AJK) 25 March: A high-level meeting held here today with Prime Minister Chudhary Anwar ul Haq in the chair reviewed security arrangements being made for fast approaching Eid-ul-Fitr. The meeting was attended by senior minister Colonel (retd) Waqar Ahmed Noor, Chief Secretary Khushal Khan, Inspector General Police Rana Abdul Jabbar, Special Secretary Home Raja Tahir Mumtaz Khan, DIG Police Yasin Qureshi, Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Mudassar Farooq, while the Commissioners and DIGs of Poonch and Mirpur divisions participated in the meeting through video link.During the meeting, a comprehensive strategic plan was devised to enhance the effectiveness of security measures for Eid-ul-Fitr.All relevant departments were instructed to stay vigilant and implement a clear chain of command. Moreover, the district administration and police were asked to work in tandem under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner to maintain law and order and ensure maximum safety for the public.The meeting also resolved to implement measures to secure public gathering places particularly mosques on Eid.Moreover, special instructions were issued to relevant authorities to prevent extortion during Eid, foster religious harmony and offer all possible support to both tourists and residents. Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar ul Haq, while addressing the meeting, directed the authorities concerned to take strict action against those who indulge in extortion and illegal profiteering by increasing the rents of rest houses during Eid-ul-Fitr in Azad Kashmir.He said that the institutions should take all possible steps to maintain peace saying that no negligence will be tolerated in any way.
