QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stated that restoration of trust between the state and masses is possible only through good governance.

The Chief Minister said that bad governance invigorates terrorism and it’s prevention is very necessary.

He emphasized that the civil servants would have to sense their responsibilities and work for ensuring public welfare.

He asserted that the officers who are not performing and have no realization of the public issues have no right to hold offices.

He said that amendment in the civil servant Act is necessary so as use the option of forced retirement against the inefficient officers.

The Chief Minister was presiding over the meeting of secretaries committee here on Tuesday. The Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Inspector General of police, Moazzam Jah Ansari, administrative secretaries of all provincial government departments were present in the meeting.

The meeting reviewed improvement in governance, implementation on the development projects, besides challenges and hurdles faced.

During the meeting, there was disclosure of dual jobs of 428 employees of some 28 departments.

On this, the Chief Minister directed to lodge FIR against them taking immediate action under BEDA Act.

The Secretary Excise Department, Syed Zafar Bokhari presented record of 9,882 government vehicles in the meeting.

He also briefed about the strategy of updating the data.

It was informed to the meeting that several officers are not returning the vehicles despite their transfers.

On this, Chief Minister expressed displeasure and directed to lodge FIR immediately against the officers who are not returning the vehicles.

The Chief Minister said that the database of government officers and employees has been accessed with cooperation of Information Technology Department.

He announced that he would monitor the attendance of employees by himself adding that strict decisions would be made in case there were no results.

He stressed that the objective of development projects should not be merely construction of the buildings, but the public welfare must be ensured.

If needed, the civil servants may live in the tents while performing in the remote areas so that the people feel that the government is determined to resolve their problems, he added. This would earn good name for the government and officers, and they would be remembered in the history with good words, he said.

He said that any of the civil officer or employee can’t deviate from the state’s narrative. He said that Balochistan is passing through hard time and every civil servant would have to pay full attention on resolving the public issues. He said that maximum opportunities of livelihood would be created in the PSDP with cooperation of private sector. He said that we have to fight terrorism with full force. He mentioned that the state has always made attempts of negotiations but anti state elements want to harm it through violence, which is unacceptable.
