Protest Against New Canals from River Indus by Sindh Students Council in Tando Adam

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) Sindh Students Council (SSC) Tando Adam Chapter staged a protest rally against the proposed plan to construct new canals from the River Indus. The rally, led by Amar Faizan Soomro, started from New Aligarh Boys College and concluded at the Tando Adam Press Club.

During the demonstration, SUP leader Comrade Muhammad Khan Panhwar, along with Baghai Mujahid Thehim, Sagar Dahraj, Gul Hassan Lako, Umar Waryah, Hanif Junejo, Daniyal Panhwar, Mehtab Dahri, Kashif Bhurgari, and other speakers addressed the crowd. They condemned the project, calling it a conspiracy to turn Sindh into a barren land, which they declared unacceptable to the people of Sindh.

The speakers emphasized that the River Indus is the lifeline of Sindh, and any unauthorized diversion of its water would devastate agricultural lands, severely impacting the province’s economy. They urged the federal and provincial governments to immediately withdraw the plan to construct new canals. The leaders warned that failure to do so would result in intensified protests across the region.

A large number of citizens, students, and political and social activists participated in the protest. The demonstrators chanted slogans such as “Save River Indus” and “Stop the Robbery on Indus.”
