Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif spoke boldly about the Kashmir issue at the United Nations – Engineer Amir Muqam
India has not been able to extinguish the spirit of the right to self-determination of the people of Occupied Kashmir – Engineer Amir Muqam
Islamabad – April 9, 2025: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Engineer Amir Muqam, stated that India has not been able to suppress the spirit of the right to self-determination among the people of Occupied Kashmir. He emphasized that as long as even one Pakistani is alive, the Kashmir issue will remain alive. He praised Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for speaking boldly on the Kashmir issue at the United Nations. He was addressing the Kashmir Conference held here on Wednesday.
On this occasion, PML-N leader Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Speaker of Azad Kashmir Assembly Latif Akbar, Chairman of APHC Ghulam Muhammad Safi, Member of the National Assembly Hafizuddin, Mushahid Hussain Syed, political leaders of Azad Kashmir and leadership of APHC were also present.
Addressing the conference, the Federal Minister said that countless people have been martyred in Occupied Kashmir, many women have been widowed, and even today, thousands of Kashmiris are imprisoned in Indian jails. He added that Hurriyat leaders are also in jail, and several have passed away in custody.
Amir Muqam reiterated that India has failed to kill the passion of Kashmiris for their right to self-determination, and even today, Kashmiris are fighting with more intensity and commitment than ever before. He said the people of Occupied Kashmir have always stood by Pakistan and will continue to do so. As long as a single Pakistani lives, the Kashmir issue will remain alive.
He praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for courageously raising the Kashmir issue at the United Nations and mentioned that the Prime Minister has had the opportunity to visit Azad Kashmir twice.
The Federal Minister also said that he does not accuse anyone of failing to condemn the ongoing atrocities in Kashmir and Palestine. He supported the appointment of a referendum advisor and stated that he would discuss this matter with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
