Protest Rally Held by Chhutto Ittehad Against Canal Project from Indus River

Sanghar (Hasnain Ashiq Saand) A large protest rally was organized by the Chhutto Ittehad against the proposed construction of a canal from the Indus River. The rally, led by Shahmir Khan Chhutto, Ghulam Hussain Chhutto, Waryam Chhutto, Parvez Chandio, Shafi Mohammad Saand, and others, began from Chhutto House and concluded at the press club.

Protesters carried banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the canal project, chanting vociferously in defense of the Indus River and Sindh’s water rights.

Addressing the rally, Shahmir Chhutto and other leaders stated that the Indus River is the lifeline of Sindh, and any attempt to draw a canal from it through illegal means is a direct attack on the rights of Sindh. “Such actions are unacceptable and will be strongly resisted,” they asserted.

The leaders emphasized that Sindh has always advocated for fair distribution of water and warned that if any attempt is made to divert water from the Indus unjustly, a wave of protests will erupt across the province and roads will be blocked.

They demanded the immediate withdrawal of the canal project and warned that the people of Sindh are ready to go to any extent to protect their river, agriculture, and constitutional rights.
