High level review meeting chaired by CM Bugti decides: Balochistan Institutional Reforms Act to be enacted for improving services and administrative affairs in health sector

QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has decided to enact the Balochistan Institutional Reforms Act in order to improve services and administrative affairs in the health sector of province.
The decision to this effect was made in a high-level review meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti here at the CM’s secretariat on Thursday.
The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Health, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Health, Mujeebur Rehman Panezai, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Babar Khan, Secretary Finance, Imran Zarkoon, Secretary Communications and Woks, Lal Jan Jaffar, Secretary Law, Kalimullah Khan, Director General Health Services, Dr. Amin Khan Mandokhail, Director Health Card Programme, Dr. Ahmed Wali and other concerned high ups.
The meeting reviewed different matters pertaining to bring improvement in the health sector. The higher authorities of Health department briefed in detail about the related affairs.
Addressing the meeting, Chief Minister directed to speed up work on 12 draft laws for brining remarkable improvement in the health sector.
During the briefing, the Secretary Health informed that five draft laws are in stages of completion. He also informed that steps are being taken on priority basis for meeting shortage of the trained human resource in the health sector.
It was informed that the recruitment of 1600 doctors, 1600 paramedic staff and 60 faculty members including Assistant Professors and senior Registrars has been completed. Still, 800 more doctors would be recruited too, it was informed further adding that services of 8,000 persons have been acquired from the health sector for anti-polio campaign.
While on the other hand, the measures are also being taken for making the command-and-control system, facilitation centers, surveillance centers, data centers and network operation centers more effective.
The Chief Minister on the occasion stressed that remarkable improvement is direly needed in the health sector. For, he directed to make Health Sector Reform Unit effective at the earliest.
He said that we are determined to provide quality healthcare services to the common people of Balochistan. He asserted that we would not make any compromise against the public interests for improving health sector in the province. He said that if anyone observes strike, stages sit-in, one may do it, but we would not make any compromise on the public interest.
He also ordered to formulate key performance indicators to review individuals’ performance in the health department.
The Chief Minister expressed surprise over it that government allocates Rs. 80 billion for health sector every year and said that every person of the province can be treated in the most expensive private hospital of the country in such a huge amount.
He warned that wastage of public resources is not tolerable at all. He issued standing directives to the concerned authorities to spend each and every penny allocated in the budget on health of the common people of the province.
